Design Services
Dunham Design Associates/Richard Dunham, Designer offers a variety of design services that are related to the entertainment and architectural industries. A brief description of each range of services is provided below.
Theatrical Lighting and Scenic Design
This forms the majority of my design experience with several hundred design credits in both lighting and scenic design. Most of my business is in freelance design on a per show basis --sometimes designing both scenery and lighting for the same production. I have often committed to theatrical organizations as a resident designer for entire seasons (both summer and seasonal). While my reputation is generally associated with more spectacle based productions with many musical theatre design credits, I also have numerous credits as a lighting and scenic designer for drama, dance, ballet and lyric opera. I continue to design in both large and small facilities, for tours, as well as with both large and small budgets. I have served on the resident design staff of a number of theatres, including: Brunswick Music Theatre (now Maine State Music Theatre), Music Theatre North, Okaboji and Dunes Summer Theatres and fifteen summer seasons at Bucks Rock. I have also been a frequent returning designer for organizations such as The Broadhollow Group and Theatre Three Theatres on Long Island, Circle Repertory Theatre Lab in NYC, Atlanta Lyric Theatre and the Springer Opera (Georgia State Theatre in Columbus, GA).
Architectural and Landscape Lighting
I also offer design/consultation services to individuals and organizations who require a more theatrical presentational style of design for personal residences and commercial properties. Services that I have offered in the past include: both architectural and entertainment lighting systems for homes, houses of worship, nightclubs and other commercial projects. I have also served as a consultant for space-planning and interior design issues related to auditoriums/performance halls, churches and other presentational facilities. I hold memberships in The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) and am an associate member of The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). I also hold the National Council for Qualifications for the Lighting Profession LC (NCQLP -Lighting Certified) certification. This part of my design practice is generally limited to the Athens and Atlanta region.
